Synchro (Synchronized Skating)

Who It’s For

Open to all skaters in the STARSkate program who are interested in skating as part of a team. No previous synchro experience is required. Just a willingness to learn, work together, and have fun on the ice.

Program Structure

Synchronized skating is a team discipline where 8–16 skaters perform formations and step sequences together, moving as one unit to music. The program will focus on:
  • Learning synchro basics such as lines, circles, and blocks
  • Building unison, speed, and precision
  • Developing musical timing and expression
  • Enhancing skating skills through teamwork
Skaters will train as part of the YKSC Synchro Team, with on-ice practices and occasional off-ice sessions.

Key Skills Developed

  • Teamwork and communication
  • Stronger edges, turns, and transitions
  • Speed and endurance
  • Performance skills and confidence

Travel Synchro Team

This season, we are introducing a Travel Synchro Team for interested skaters.
  • Team members will attend selected out-of-town events or competitions
  • Additional commitment for practices and travel will be required

Progress Recognition

Skaters receive ongoing feedback from coaches, with a focus on individual improvement and overall team performance.

Next Steps

If you are already registered in STARSkate and would like to join Synchro, speak to your coach or contact the club to register.

Spots are not limited — all STARSkate skaters are encouraged to participate!
